When my grandpa, Al Sprague, was young he spent many weekends on skin diving trips with friends. Stories of his diving days can be read in his novel, Clear Blue Line (available on Amazon). At night he would sing his diving songs to his buddies. These songs would later be sung on the Pasha to my mom and her siblings. "Amberjack Blues" is just one of the many songs the Sprague family enjoyed singing together. The cartoon printed on the back of the shirt, drawn by him, captures the words of the refrain perfectly.
Amberjack blues, these flippers feel like shoes,
What the hell am I doin' here anyhow?
This fish is goin' down, and sharks are comin' round,
My achin' body needs some air right now.
